With YorName, as with other domain name registrars, domains are registered for 1, 2, 3... years. The end of the registration is called the expiration date. What happens after expiration is regulated by ICANN, the domain authority, and is not controlled by SimDif or YorName.
If you forgot or otherwise did not renew your domain on time your website will have become unavailable, but you may still be able to renew your domain and restore your website.
1. Grace Period: From 1 to 30+ days after expiration
Depending on your domain ending, .com, etc., this period may be up to 45 days.
Your published website and any email addresses linked to your domain will stop working, but you can still easily renew your domain name, and your website and email accounts will quickly be back in operation.
Simply log in to SimDif and click the green "Renew this domain" button at the bottom of your site – the button is also present for 30 days before domain expiry – or log in to YorName.com with your SimDif username and password, and renew your domain for as many years as you wish.
2. Security Period: From 30+ days after expiration
At this time you will no longer be able to renew your domain in SimDif or YorName. However, for up to 30 days, the YorName team may still be able to help you recover your domain.
Contact the YorName team to ask for our help in renewing your domain.
There is a $50 fee, on top of the normal domain price, for renewing a domain during Period 2.
The fee goes to the Registry Operator, not to YorName, and there is nothing we can do reduce it.
3. Release Period
Approximately 2-3 months after the expiration date, your domain will again be available for anyone, including you, to register for the normal price.
If you want to wait to re-purchase your domain in this way we recommend that you check the domain name availability every other day with a quick domain search on YorName.com.
When your domain name becomes available again, simply purchase it as a new domain:
